Design reference standards and practices of mobile smoke removal from nuclear islands in nuclear power plants
Wang Junmin
Combined with regulations, design standards, fire field smoke removal and design practices, starting from the demand of fire fighting emergency smoke removal from nuclear islands in nuclear power plants, the alternative methods and features of emergency smoke removal for fire fighting, the common design criteria and practices of mobile smoke removal features and the application challenges are presented. It is proposed that the design of mobile smoke removal from nuclear islands can refer to the design guidelines for fixed smoke removal of domestic buildings. However, there are also different design considerations of mobile smoke removal from nuclear islands such as the self-sustainability required for fire fighting, the equivalent compensation of different fire separation measures, the integrity of external hazard protection and radioactive static containment boundaries, and the continuity of operation outside the fire area (or zone). It is expected that the standard will be developed to change the current lack of guidelines for the design of mobile smoke removal from nuclear islands.
